An additional Deaccessioning Spree, the Art Institute of Chicago Is offering 300 Works of Chinese Art at Christie’s This autumn

The Art Institute of Chicago is deaccessioning 300 works of russian bride Chinese art from the collection at Christie’s ny in September. The “Chinese pieces of art through the Art Institute of Chicago” auction, planned for September 12, having a complementary sale that is online 10–17, may benefit the museum’s Asian art department’s purchase investment.

“Our curators are often assessing and refining the museum’s collection,” the Art Institute stated in a statement posted because of the Chicago Tribune, noting that the choice to offer the works had been approved by its board of trustees. “This auction permits us to deaccession a wide range of works in areas where we now have significant breadth and level, and also the profits will go back to the Asian Art department’s acquisition investment.”
