So you may be asking what is different about the Theobroma Embedded Computer module offerings as compared to all the other solutions out in the market ?

We will get to the features of the first product but I wanted to highlight what are the BIG advantages to you the customer.

Most of the products today are available are built using processors from Freescale, Intel, Texas Instruments and Atmel. There are two camps “486” and ARM based products. These are used by the module  designers and these well established companies provide much of the software and documentation.

The module supplier is therefore heavily dependent on the software resources of the silicon manufacturer or Microsoft.

The Theobroma industry leading embedded computing modules approach is quite different. This brings you many advantages.  Theobroma Sysems Und Consulting GmbH has a rich heritage , through their consultancy work in developing software from the ground up. They have applied this expertise to their modules. The end result is that they have no dependence on the processor manufacturer for any software. It is all developed in house.  A good example is that Theobroma is the first to offer board support support packages with Linux 4.0. Most manufacturers are depending on their silicon vendor to update them to 4.0.   Most are still on Linux 3.3. Android is fully available too

Having this independence on software allows Theobroma to capitalise on the quad core processors that are supplied  in China in huge volumes for the computing tablet market.  It also means that future proofing is simple because compatible  modules using Theobroma in-house software can be transplanted to newer generations of pin and function compatible modules. This assures you of continuous long term supply.

Supporting motherboard and eval kits with Mini-ITX baseboards are available with board support packages for Linux 4.0 and Android. These include the relevant divers for the security modules.
